Four Things You Must Have!
Part I of IV

Persistence Greg Mcafee This past weekend, I drove my seventeen-year-old son to a one-day football camp at The Ohio State University. As we were walking up to the Woody Hayes Athletic Center, I noticed some sort of competition going on in a stadium close by. It was the state summer games for the Special Olympics, an event that over 3,500 amazing athletes participated in. When my son and I stopped and watched, we noticed that those dedicated, hardworking young athletes never gave up. Even if they fell far behind in the race, quitting was simply not an option. I also noticed they were always happy. Win or lose, they thrived on the opportunity to compete.

Nobody said it would be easy. Business should be fun, but it also can be hard, challenging, and downright difficult. However, we must persevere and be persistent in leading and growing our business.

Here are a few ideas that have helped me:
  • Stay in front of things; don't fall behind.
  • Stay fresh personally, get enough rest, eat right, and exercise.
  • Keep family relationships strong and don't go to work mad.
  • Use your team to do some things you shouldn't be doing.
  • Control your debt.
  • Be proactive instead of reactive.
  • Have a mentor or someone you can talk to and vent with.
"Don't give up. There are too many nay-sayers out there who will try to discourage you. Don't listen to them. The only one who can make you give up is yourself."
~Sidney Sheldon~

Carry On!
